Graduating Students Employment Service (GSES)

This comprehensive employment service provides access to job listings, workshops, and special events to help graduating students find employment after graduation.

Who is This For?

Any student in any faculty who will be graduating in June or November 2013.

What You’ll Get

Registration will give you access to the following special services at the Career Centre:

1. Job Postings

Medium- and large-sized employers will post jobs on the Career Centre’s website exclusively for students in their graduating year. Jobs are posted from September-March, with employment starting in the spring.

Where to Find the Postings

The job postings are found on the Career Centre's website under Job Search from the left menu.

Once you have registered with GSES, a new GSES button will appear to allow you access to these jobs.

Job Order Number

When you apply to a position please make note of the job order number (but don’t include it in your application). This information is important if you are dropping a resume off at the Career Centre and if you need to schedule an interview. After a posting deadline date has passed it is removed from the website and the only way you can view it is by visiting the Career Centre and using our computers to access delisted postings. You can then recall the postings by entering the job order number.

Deadline Date and Time

    Method of Application

Under "method of application" an employer will clearly identify how you should apply to the position. Please note the method of application and the deadline date carefully in order to ensure your application is received - it is always best to apply as early as possible. The deadline date and time will be posted in the method of application. Online, e-mail, fax and mail applications are due before midnight on the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted.

What to Include in your Application

Applying Online through the Career Centre: Some postings will indicate that you apply online through the Career Centre website. In order to do this, you must upload your application components through the My Resume & Cover Letter page. You can track your applications through the My History page. Please note: Your documents are saved in a text format – for tips on putting together a plain-text application read the Applying Online guide.

Additional items to be included in your application will be noted by the employer in the job posting. Generally they are looking for a cover letter, resume and transcripts. Transcripts can be printed from ROSI but make sure you print/copy all applicable pages. If the employer is requesting a CACEE form you can download it from CACEE directly. For tips on putting together your best application, read the Resumes, Interviews & Applications guide in My Career.

2. On-Campus Recruitment

Many of these same employers will conduct information sessions to introduce you to their organization and available positions. These sessions are excellent opportunityies to network - many of which are restricted to GSES registrants.

3. Special Events for GSES Registrants only

Throughout the academic year GSES registrants will have access to unique special events including:

Employer Practice Interviews: The Career Centre will host employers who will provide mock interviews for students. By registering for GSES you will receive an invitation to these events.

Networking Events: The Career Centre will organize networking opportunities for students to meet professionals in industries of interest. This is an opportunity to gain information and to ask questions about their industries and organizations. By registering for GSES you will receive an invitation to these events.
